Police appeal to holidaymakers in murder probe

Holidaymakers who stayed in the same resort as a murdered Suffolk woman have been urged to contact police.

Sarah Shields was on a two-week holiday in Gran Canaria but was reported missing when she failed to return to Ipswich.

The 23-year-old's body was discovered on the island on 7 July.

UK and Spanish police have appealed for people who stayed at Balito Beach Apartments between 28 June and 11 July to contact them.

'Particularly popular'

Det Ch Insp Andy Guy, of Suffolk Police, said: "We can obtain guest information from the Balito Beach Apartments but this will take time.

"So meanwhile we are appealing for people who stayed at the apartments during this time to contact us directly.

"We are aware these apartments are particularly popular with British holidaymakers."

A 36-year-old Ipswich man has appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice.

He was also arrested on suspicion of murder but released on police bail over the charge.
