Appeal over man's fatal slip into car in Sudbury

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 67-year-old man died nine days after slipping and falling into a passing car in Suffolk.

Peter Carr, of Sudbury, had been crossing Suffolk Road towards Girling Street in the town on 23 December.

He fell into the road and a car and then spoke to its driver and felt well, police said. He was taken to hospital on 1 January and died later that day.

A post-mortem examination revealed a head injury contributed to his death.

Pc Andy Fossey said: "I want to speak to anyone who may have been in the Suffolk Road and Girling Street areas of Sudbury on the morning of 23 December and may have witnessed the road traffic collision.

"We believe that Mr Carr parked his vehicle in Suffolk Road at around 1000 GMT, but it could have been earlier or later than this.

"We also need to trace the female driver of the car which was in collision with Mr Carr. We have no details of the make or colour of the car, and no details of the woman in terms of age or appearance. We are appealing directly to her to get in touch."
