'Suspect bomb' cordon in Saxmundham now lifted

A cordon around a building site in Suffolk where a suspected bomb was discovered on Tuesday has been lifted.

A bomb disposal team was called to Saxmundham when workers dug up an unexploded 6ft (1.83m) long shell.

Roads were sealed off following the find by workers clearing a building site on Church Street.

The device was said to be in silver casing and torpedo shaped. Bomb disposal experts opened the shell casing and it was found to be empty.
