Work starts on £200,000 play area in Bury St Edmunds

Work on a £200,000 scheme to improve a play area in Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is due to start this week.

The work will see about 90% of the existing play equipment, some of which dates back to the 1950s, replaced.

There will be new swings, a treehouse, ropes, wood, sand and water.

There will also be a temporary canopied structure which can be used for various events and activities, said a St Edmundsbury Council spokeswoman.
