Ipswich man arrested over rape accusation released

A 24-year-old man arrested in connection with an allegation of rape in Ipswich has been released from bail.

Suffolk Police were contacted early on the morning of Saturday 5 March following reports a woman in her 20s had been sexually assaulted.

She said the attack had taken place a few hours earlier in the Melville Road area.

A man from Ipswich was arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

On Friday he answered bail and was released as the victim no longer wishes to proceed with a complaint against him.

As a result, the investigation has concluded, a police spokesman said.
