New Suffolk Police Authority chairman elected

A new chairman of Suffolk Police Authority has been elected.

Joanna Spicer, a Suffolk county councillor from Pakenham, near Bury St Edmunds, replaces Colin Spence who has stood down.

Mrs Spicer said: "I am very happy to take on the role of chairman of Suffolk Police Authority at this challenging time."

She said she was committed to improving "the current high performance of our police force".

She added: "We will look to further our successful collaboration with Norfolk Constabulary and other key partners, and intend to leave a legacy of a safe, strong and respected police service for the people of Suffolk."

Mrs Spicer has served as a member of the police authority for almost 22 years and has held various positions in that time, including serving as the chairman of the monitoring and audit committee.
