A man has been found guilty of involvement in an attack which left an Ipswich man needing brain surgery.

Liam Rumsey, 21, was attacked at Orwell Country Park in Nacton on 3 May 2010.

Matthew Osborn, 22, of Barnham Place, Rushmere St Andrew, was cleared of wounding at Ipswich Crown Court.

But he was found guilty of the lesser offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm. Police said Mr Rumsey was still receiving treatment but was making good progress.

Osborn is due to be sentenced at a later date.

Lewis Dowe, 22, of Ramsey Close, Ipswich, and Darren Gorham, 23, of Marigold Avenue, Ipswich, who both denied wounding, were cleared of the charges by the jury.

The jury was told Mr Rumsey was attacked by a group of men as he went for a stroll in the park.
