Labour gains control of Ipswich

Labour has taken control of Ipswich Borough Council.

The council previously had no overall control and was run by a Liberal Democrat/Conservative coalition.

Labour now hold 28 seats, the Conservatives 16 and the Liberal Democrats have 4 seats.

Babergh District Council remains under no overall control. Forest Heath District Council, Suffolk Coastal and St Edmundsbury all stay under Conservative control.

The Conservatives have lost control at Waveney which becomes a hung council.

Labour and the Conservatives each have 23 wards, the Lib Dems lose both their remaining seats with the Greens and an Independent each having one.

Conservatives held on to power in Mid Suffolk with 21 seats, Greens have four, Independents - five, Labour - one, Lib Dems - seven and Suffolk Together - two.
