Mannings' boss loses cancer fight

Felixstowe amusement park owner Charlie Manning has died after losing his battle with cancer.

The 66-year-old, who ran Mannings Amusement Park in the seaside town, died in his sleep after fighting cancer of the liver for about six months.

His father, also Charlie Manning, took over the seafront arcades in 1946 from Sir Billy Butlin.

His brother Richard Manning also runs arcades in the town. He leaves behind a wife, Sarah, and two sons.

BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Bob Shelley, a family friend, said: "He didn't have a bad bone in his body, he was a real show man and saw the good in everybody.

"He worked hard for the business and for Felixstowe, he was a real supporter the town."
