An inmate serving a life sentence for murder has absconded from an open prison in Suffolk, police said.

Bruce Lee Jackson, 39, was reported missing from Hollesley Bay just before 09:00 BST on Friday after he failed to turn up for a roll call.

He is described as white, with ginger hair and blue eyes and is about 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall. He wears glasses and has a scar on his cheek and right hand.

Police said he had connections in the Peterborough area.

They said it was possible he had used a vehicle or public transport to get away from the immediate area.

The public have been warned not to approach him.
