Police close down illegal rave in Suffolk wood

An illegal rave in a Suffolk wood has been shut down by police.

Officers were called to Combs Wood at Combs, near Stowmarket at 07:00 BST on Saturday by a member of the public.

They found about 20 people with loud music and a camp fire and attempted to bring the event to a close, ordering everybody to leave at 08:00 BST.

The site was cleared of people and vehicles by 09:00 BST and although no arrests were made, officers seized sound equipment.

Firefighters were called to extinguish the camp fire.

Suffolk Police are urging landowners to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity on their land.

Insp Mark Larner said: "Suffolk Police will not tolerate raves and the damage and nuisance they cause.

"Anyone organising a rave will face prosecution for holding such an event.

"We will also seek to prosecute anyone attending a rave who commits other offences, such as damage."
