Hunt for pair who may have witnessed Ipswich sex attack

Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in Ipswich believe a couple may have information.

The victim had left a house to look for a friend late on Sunday night when she was approached by a man in Belstead Road.

He pushed her to the ground before physically and sexually assaulting her.

A couple may have spoken to the victim at 1120 BST in the area of Stoke Park Drive and Belstead Road, police said.

They also want to contact a man who was seen running in the Belstead Road area around the time of the attack.

The offender is described as white, in his 20s, slightly taller than 5ft 9in (1.75m) , of stocky build, and was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit with the hood up and white trainers.

Det Insp Stuart Sowerby said: "This was a nasty attack that has left the victim very shaken.

"These people could hold important information in relation to this investigation and we are urging them to contact us without delay."
