Shoplifting crackdown in Ipswich ahead of Christmas

Shoplifters in Ipswich are being targeted in a three-day crackdown during the build up to Christmas.

Plain-clothed officers will patrol the town centre between Monday and Wednesday.

Police are working in partnership with Ipswich Borough Council, who control CCTV in the town, and retailers.

Sgt Ben Hudson said: "In the run up to Christmas we're keen to have an increased presence and to send a clear message. Shoplifting is not tolerated."
