Case dropped against Latitude Festival rape accused

A man arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at a festival in Suffolk is to face no further police action.

Police were called to the Latitude Festival site at Henham near Southwold on the morning of 17 July.

The incident was reported to have happened in a tent on the staff campsite and the area was cordoned off while investigations took place.

The 24-year-old man, from Ipswich, has now been released from his bail arrangements.

A Suffolk Police statement said: "Police have carried out a comprehensive investigation into what happened... including interviewing the 20-year-old woman who made the allegation, the man alleged to have raped her, who gave an account that the incident had been consensual, and friends and associates.

"From this investigation there is insufficient evidence to proceed with any criminal charges."
