A lorry driver has been charged after a man was crushed to death and another was injured at Ipswich docks.

Neville Wightman, from Ipswich, died when a section of pontoon fell off a lorry at Cliff Road last December.

Paul Napier, 48, from Inglenook, Clacton, has been charged with manslaughter, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and a health and safety offence.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Ipswich next month.

The emergency services were called to the dockside just before 18:00 GMT on Friday, 16 December.

Mr Wightman died at the scene, while a 42-year-old man from Lowestoft was taken to Ipswich Hospital where he was treated for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
