Haverhill woman attacked with glass shard and bleach
A woman was attacked with a shard of glass and apparently had bleach squirted into her mouth in Suffolk.
The 18-year-old was walking along Leather Lane, Haverhill, on Monday morning when a man tugged on her handbag and pushed her against a fence.
The shard caused scratch marks on the woman's neck and stomach, but she will not require further medical attention.
The woman ran home when the man was disturbed by a noise. Police are appealing for witnesses.
The man described as white, aged 40-50, 6ft tall and of slim build with short dark curly hair and he was clean-shaven.
He wore a dark-blue, long-sleeved, hooded top, straight blue denim jeans and trainers. He also wore black fleece gloves and carried a blue shopping bag.
Det Con Jenny Gant, from Bury St Edmunds CID, said: "This is an unusual assault where we will be making further inquiries to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
"It is important that we hear from anyone who was in the area who may have seen this man."
