Man injured at Ipswich docks in 50ft fall

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after falling 50ft (15m) into a ship's hold at Ipswich docks.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called to the quay on Cliff Road at 15:45 GMT.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, fell from the edge of the deck, which opened out on to the steel hold.

Fire crews helped to free him before he was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where he was being treated for a suspected fractured pelvis and spine.
