The jury has retired in the trial of the Suffolk athletics coach facing 21 charges of rape and sexual assaults on teenage girls.

Stephen Benson, 50, of Copdock, denies 11 rapes and 10 other charges against three girls between 1989 and 2011.

The prosecution at Ipswich Crown Court, said he abused his position and manipulated the girls.

The defence said the only sexual contact that took place was above the age of consent and consensual.

Mr Benson was a coach at Ipswich Harriers Athletics Club and the judge told the jury they "will be sure the defendant was an effective, sought-after and much-admired coach".
