An Ipswich Town footballer has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting his wife.

Guirane N'Daw, 28, of Neptune Square in Ipswich, is accused of assaulting Bigue Ndiaye N'daw, causing her actual bodily harm.

Mr N'Daw, a Senegal international, joined Ipswich on loan from Saint-Etienne in August.

He is due back before magistrates in Ipswich for a committal hearing in June.

The defendant was released on bail on condition that he does not leave the country.
