Ipswich kidnapping: Homeless 27-year-old man charged

A 27-year-old man has been charged following a kidnapping in Suffolk.

The man was arrested at an address in Duke Street, Ipswich, on Monday and he is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court later.

Malachi Cavalho, of no fixed abode, has been charged with kidnap, grievous bodily harm, robbery and possession of knife in a public place.

It follows an incident involving a man in his 20s in Bell Close, Ipswich, on 4 March, police said.

A man in his 20s who jumped from a balcony when officers arrived at the address in Duke Street is in Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition, police added.
