Man held after woman, 27, raped in Ipswich

A man has been arrested over a rape in which a woman was asked if she had a light and then pushed to the ground.

The 27-year-old was attacked in Smart Street in Ipswich at about 21:00 BST on 6 September. The offender then ran off in an unknown direction.

An alleyway was cordoned off while police carried out an investigation.

A 34-year-old man from Felixstowe has been arrested on suspicion of rape and robbery and is being questioned, a Suffolk Police spokeswoman said.
