The man who trained this year's Grand National winner has been fined £535 for speeding in Suffolk.

Dr Richard Newland, 50, was caught driving at 59mph (94km/h) in a 30mph (48km/h) zone in Ufford, near Woodbridge, in September.

Magistrates in Ipswich also ordered Dr Newland, of Egg Lane, Worcester, to pay £85 costs and a £54 victim surcharge.

Dr Newland trained Pineau De Re, the horse that won the showcase race at Aintree earlier this month.

In addition to the fine, he also had six penalty points added to his driving licence.
