A motorist was injured after his car was in collision with a marked police car which was responding to a 999 call.

The crash happened about 14:45 GMT in Bramford Road, Ipswich.

The casualty, who was driving a Ford Focus, was treated at the scene for chest pains. The road was closed while an investigation into the cause of the crash was carried out.

The police car was responding to an emergency when the crash happened, Suffolk Constabulary said.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
