An Ipswich Town footballer has thanked supporters on social media who helped find his missing dog.

Kevin Bru put out an appeal on Twitter on Sunday after his Labrador retriever, Gizzer, escaped from his Claydon home.

One of the Mauritius international midfielder's followers pointed him in the direction of a missing dog website, which had posted a picture of Gizzer.

"I'd like to thank everyone who helped out in the search," Bru said. "It was a really worrying time."

Gizzer was missing for about six hours and was found in Claydon.

A spokesman for the Championship club said Bru was "delighted" to find Gizzer and the successful appeal "showed the power of social media".
