Leatherhead night hostel to get £1m improvement
A night hostel in Surrey is to have a £1m refurbishment which will provide individual bedrooms for its homeless and vulnerable clients.
Leatherhead Night Hostel, in Church Road, will also have new office space for support services aimed at helping clients back into independent living.
The Homes and Communities Agency has provided nearly £850,000 funding.
More cash has been provided by Mole Valley District Council, Raven Housing Trust and the night hostel committee.
'Respite and recovery'
Chair of the hostel trustees Myfanwy Tothill said the refurbishment would help the hostel continue the work it began in 1977.
"It has been ahead of its time in offering pleasant and comfortable surroundings... and the best chance of a place of respite and recovery where clients feel safe.
"The improved building will make it possible for us to provide life and skills work training for them during the day that will lead to gaining employment.
"So Leatherhead Night Hostel will become a place of change, helping our clients to move on positively with their lives."
