Surrey council launches Olympic website

A Surrey council has launched a website to help people benefit from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games., hosted by Surrey County Council, aims to help residents and businesses take advantage of a predicted £1bn boost to the economy.

The website aims to help businesses learn about winning Olympic contracts and give residents the opportunity to become volunteers for the games.

The council said 85 Olympic contracts have already been won by Surrey firms.

Community services councillor Denise Saliagopoulos said: "There are huge opportunities on offer from the Olympic and Paralympic Games and will help us make sure people make the most of them.

"I would urge everyone to take a look for themselves and see how they can get involved."
