Police have released an e-fit mage image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Surrey Police said the teenager was attacked in a wooded area off London Road in Burpham, near Guildford, Surrey, on Thursday.

The force has been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Detectives want to speak to a man in his early 20s who was seen in the area at the time of the attack.

'Horrendous experience'

He was described as being white, of slim build and with short scruffy brown hair. He was said to be wearing a brown hooded top, baggy denim jeans and dirty white trainers.

Det Insp Karen Hughes said: "This was an horrendous experience for the victim and specially trained officers are working with her, providing support and ensuring everything is done to bring this offender to justice.

"We have released a description of a man who was in the area at the time who we would like to identify as he may be able to assist us with our enquiries.

"We have also released an e-fit and again I appeal for suggestions as to identity.

"I should stress that we are looking to eliminate this man from our enquiries as he was seen in the area around the time of the offence."
