New service centre for Guildford council residents
A council in Surrey has promised that a new customer service centre will provide a quick and efficient service.
Switchboard staff at Guildford Borough Council are to be trained to answer most residents' queries either face-to face, on the phone, or by e-mail.
Specialist staff will be available when there is a need to discuss more complex or personal issues.
The customer service centre will be based in the council's existing office at Millmead from next year.
Lead councillor for customer service, Nick Sutcliffe, said it would provide "efficient, cost effective, flexible, and accessible customer service for all".
As part of the new initiative the council's web site will also continue to be developed.
