Dog charity box stolen from vet's in Godalming

Thieves got away with £330 in cash, including a charity collection and the contents of a till and cash box, during a break-in at a Surrey vet's practice.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier collection box was stolen with the other items from the Revendell Veterinary Group in Godalming.

Thieves smashed glass in the front door to gain entry to the St John's Street premises about 0315 GMT on Thursday.

A male suspect had a woman accomplice who waited outside the building.

'Callous theft'

The pair escaped on foot towards Summers Road.

The woman is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, of medium build and wearing a white coat. The man was also white, taller than the woman and of lean build. He was wearing dark clothing.

"The descriptions of the suspects are quite vague but someone must know who was responsible for this callous theft," said Det Con Mike Taylor.

"It has not only caused massive inconvenience to a local business but has also taken donations away from a worthy charity."
