A 29-year-old man from Woking has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop.

'Second driver'

He has been released on bail until 25 January.

The pedestrian was taken to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey and later transferred to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London.

A force spokesman said the man's condition was critical but stable.

Det Sgt Gary Wright said: "We believe there may have been a second driver driving along Station Road who might have valuable information but who didn't stop because they didn't realise what had happened."
