Surrey Police give advice for driving in wintry weather

Surrey Police are advising drivers on how to cope with wintry weather, as heavy snow is predicted for the next few days.

Police advise motorists to pack a blanket, warm clothes, food and a hot drink when setting off by car.

They also remind motorists to check the weather forecast before travelling and to allow extra time for journeys.

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for heavy snow in the South East.

A severe weather timetable has been issued by South West Trains with some services cancelled on Saturday in anticipation of the bad weather.

Southern Railway said it will run a revised timetable on Saturday, with fewer services, but with additional coaches on many trains. It advises passengers to check its live running information page.

Surrey Police are also urging residents to look out for their neighbours during the wintry weather.
