A metal statue of an eagle worth about £500 has been stolen from the entrance to a property in Surrey.

It was stolen from an address near Woodlands Road, Leatherhead, where it had stood on a 7ft-high brick pillar.

Police said the distinctive statue, which was stolen last weekend, was 3ft tall and was 4ft wide.

Pc Chris Lewis said: "It is unusual someone managed to steal this statue as it would be heavy to lift and require significant effort to remove it."
