Man, 90, targeted in Epsom High Street robbery

A 90-year-old man has had £1,000 stolen after he was distracted by three women in Surrey.

He had withdrawn the money from a cash point in Epsom High Street and placed it in an envelope inside a storage section of his walking aid.

As he walked away, he was approached by three women asking for directions and showing him a map. He realised the cash was missing after they left.

The suspects were described as women of Asian or eastern European appearance.

Officers said they were aged in their 40s or 50s and of a large build.

They were all wearing dark clothing and one of the women spoke with a strong foreign accent.

Appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened last Thursday at about 1330 GMT, Det Con Simon Evans said: "This gentleman was deliberately preyed upon in the most callous and calculating way."
