Man sought over West Byfleet sexual assault

A man who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Surrey after asking her for money is being sought by police.

The girl was walking from the railway station along Birch Walk, in West Byfleet, on Thursday afternoon when he approached her.

She carried on with her journey in the direction of the canal after he asked her for money, but he followed and assaulted her in Woodlands Road.

Officers said the man spoke with an Irish accent and was aged about 20.

He was described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, with short brown spiky hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with blue piping on the sleeves, light blue jeans and white trainers.

The assault happened just before 1400 GMT.
