Surrey town's shopping district revamp complete

A plaque has been unveiled to mark the completion of a project to revamp a Surrey town's shopping district.

Councillor John O'Reilly, the leader of Elmbridge Borough Council, unveiled the plaque in Walton-on-Thames High Street.

Improvements include new street lighting, wider footpaths, cycle racks, tourist information signs and banners at entrance points to the town.

The work was funded by £350,000 from the Tory-run borough council and £100,000 from Surrey County Council.
