New play area unveiled in Ashtead village

A refurbished play area which caters for older and younger children is being unveiled in a Surrey village.

Mole Valley District Council said children and their families helped design Ashtead Recreation Ground after raising about £65,000.

The council worked alongside the Ashtead Recreation Campaign after a need for better play facilities was identified.

Councillor John Northcott was set to open the playground on Saturday.

The main playground includes a zip wire, swings and spiral slide while the toddlers' area has a sand pit and water pump.
