Surrey road casualty figures fall

The number of people killed or seriously injured on Surrey's roads has fallen, figures have shown.

Surrey Police said 32 people died on the county's roads in 2010 compared to 41 the previous year while those seriously injured fell from 530 to 488.

Surrey County Council and Surrey Police launched a Drive Smart campaign 18 months ago to improve road safety and tackle anti-social driving.

Insp Chris Colley, of Surrey Police, said the figures were encouraging.

He said: "However, even one casualty is one too many and we will continue to take a robust approach to tackling anti-social driving throughout the year."
