Third arson attack at Surrey flat block

Flats above a shopping centre in Surrey have been targeted by arsonists for a third time, according to detectives.

Two fires were started in the corridor of the fourth floor of apartments at The Heart Centre in Walton-on-Thames in the early hours of Friday.

Surrey Police said they were linking the latest attack to three fires on two separate days in April.

There were no reports of injuries according to Surrey Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the flames.

Insp David Hollingsworth, of Surrey Police, said, "Arson is a very serious offence and my neighbourhood officers are working closely with CID officers and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service to combat these crimes.

"Offenders need to know this type of behaviour can put lives and property at risk."
