Surrey Police criticise 'stupid' substation thieves

Thieves who broke into electrical substations in Surrey have been called "unbelievably stupid" by police.

Surrey Police said batteries and copper cable had recently been stolen from substations in Reigate and Dorking.

Officers said the two thefts may be linked and are carrying out an investigation with UK Power Networks.

Det Con Alex Paul, of Surrey Police, said: "They are not only risking their own lives, but those of others as well. It is incredibly dangerous."
