Masked men target woman on driveway of Banstead home

Three masked men who threatened a woman on the driveway of her house in Surrey are being sought by police.

It happened as she was leaving her home in Croydon Lane, Banstead, to collect her son at 2200 BST on Saturday.

As she walked to her car she saw a man walking towards her, holding what appeared to be a small silver handgun.

He ordered her back inside but she refused and screamed for help. She was threatened by two other suspects before her husband appeared and they all fled.

Surrey Police said her husband was also joined by her other son.

All three suspects ran away into Croydon Lane in the direction of South Drive.

Surgical masks

The woman fell to the ground during the incident, but was not seriously injured.

The suspects were all described as black, and wore surgical-style masks covering the lower half of their faces.

Officers said the first suspect was about 6ft tall, of medium build, and he had distinctive "yellow" sclera, commonly known as the white of the eye.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up, a baseball cap underneath, dark jeans or tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Det Con Kerry Whindle said it was "a disturbing offence" which had left all three victims extremely shaken.

She said it was not known why the family had been targeted.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have seen the suspects is asked to contact police.
