Surrey Police encourage boxing lessons

Young people in part of Surrey are being encouraged by police to take part in boxing lessons to combat anti-social behaviour.

The lessons have been organised by the Runnymede Police Community Boxing Club and take place in Addlestone.

Volunteers are running the classes to help deal with the causes of truancy, exclusion and anti-social behaviour.

Children between 11 and 18 years old are offered the boxing lessons to promote fitness and discipline.

The sessions at The BIZ, in Addlestone Road, cater for all age ranges but focus on teaching respect for others to local young people.

Sgt Iain Weaving said: "It costs very little to take part in each lesson and we have provided free transport to and from the venue to encourage as many young people as possible to get involved."
