A Surrey police officer has been selected as a member of the Great Britain rifle team taking part in an international competition.

Pc Emma Nuttall, 29, will travel to Canada with the team for the top level matches in August.

It will be her first senior GB appearance, after representing the country in under-19 and under-25 teams.

Pc Nuttall said: "It's a great honour to be chosen especially... in a typically male-dominated sport."

She is one of only two women and the youngest in the team of 20.

Pc Nuttall was picked for the team after winning in her first individual police full-bore target rifle shooting match against officers from across the country.

"I was due to shoot with the Great Britain team last year but I had to pull out as it coincided with the start date for my police training so I was really pleased to have been given another chance this year," she said.
