Armed man raids Woking betting shop

A man armed with what appeared to be a handgun raided a betting shop in Woking.

Surrey Police said the man forced the cashier at Ladbrokes in Chertsey Road to hand over money from the till.

The suspect, who was wearing a wide-brimmed fisherman's hat, fled in the direction of Woking train station.

Det Con Richard Cooper said: "The cashier was uninjured but this was an extremely frightening experience."

He appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at 08:00 BST on Wednesday.
