Cranleigh bus queue crash: Man arrested

A man has been arrested in connection with a crash in Surrey that left two people seriously injured.

Police said a 4x4 ploughed into a queue of people waiting at a bus stop in Cranleigh's High Street just before 01:00 BST on Saturday.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and was then thought to have gone in the direction of Horsham Road.

A 23-year-old man from Horsham was arrested on Sunday. He has been released on bail until 19 October.

Two men were injured in the crash.

Police said a 20-year-old man was airlifted to St George's Hospital in south London, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The second man, aged 21, was treated at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for facial injuries.
