West Molesey house and cars damaged in arson attack

Two cars and the front door of a house in Surrey have been badly damaged in an arson attack branded as "utterly irresponsible" by police.

The vehicles, parked on the driveway of a house in Dunstable Road, West Molesey, were set alight between 00.30 BST and 00.45 BST on Sunday.

Members of the public alerted emergency services to the blaze which had spread to the front door of the house.

No-one was hurt in the fire which is being treated as an isolated incident.

"The dangerous and utterly irresponsible actions of those who carried out this offence could easily have had even more serious consequences," said Det Con Caroline Millar.

"The fires took place in a quiet residential area so I would urge any residents who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact Surrey Police immediately."
