Metal plaques stolen from Ashford graveyard

More than 20 bronze plaques have been stolen from gravestones in an Ashford churchyard.

Several others were also damaged in the graveyard of St Matthew's Church in Church Road when thieves tried to remove them from memorial stones.

Church staff reported to Surrey Police that between 20 and 25 plaques had been removed since 20 August.

Sgt Rebecca Kempster said: "We will do everything possible to bring these callous offenders to justice."
