M3 in Surrey partially shut after lorry fire

The westbound M3 in Surrey has reopened after a lorry caught fire and started leaking diesel.

The Highways Agency said the road remained closed between junction two and junction three until the early hours of Wednesday.

The carriageway was damaged after a long goods vehicle caught fire near junction three, leaking diesel across all four lanes.

Diversions were put in place to allow emergency repair work to the surface.

The Highways Agency warned of significant delays in the area around the Thorpe Interchange and Lightwater and advised motorists to consider delaying their journey until traffic conditions improved.
