Esher sex assault on woman after night out

A 23-year-old woman was the victim of a serious sex assault in a car park in Surrey after a night out with friends, police have said.

The attack happened behind the post office in Esher High Street between 03:30 BST and 03:45 BST on Monday after the woman had been to the Aquum Lounge.

Police carried out an extensive forensic examination of the car park and seized a number of items.

Officers are keen to trace a man in his early 30s who may have information.

He is described as black, about 5ft 5in tall with a shaved head and stocky build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black and white scarf.

'High Street busy'

Police are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and trace the woman's movements between 20:00 BST on Sunday and the early hours of Monday.

"Esher High Street would have been busy so we would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary as even the smallest detail could be of great value to our investigation," said PC Kirsty Webb.

"Officers are reviewing CCTV possibilities from the town centre.

"Elmbridge neighbourhood officers will also be carrying out additional patrols in the area over the coming days and speaking with residents and businesses."
