Air and water search in Weybridge missing man alert

A large-scale operation to find a missing 54-year-old man has led to emergency teams carrying out air and water searches in a Surrey town.

Surrey Police were called to Princes Road, Weybridge, on Thursday afternoon, where the man had gone missing amid serious concerns for his wellbeing.

A large number of police and the helicopter ran searches, officers said.

Firefighters launched a boat on the River Thames in Laleham to carry out surface water checks.

River searches

Officers also carried out additional searches at Shepperton Lock.

The search area covered the River Thames near the A317 Weybridge Road, Bridge Road, Addlestone Road and Hamm Court.

Police found the man four hours later walking towards Addlestone after officers received information from a member of the public.

Officers said he was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey with minor injuries. He has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.
