Elderly woman hurt in hit-and-run in Addlestone

An elderly woman has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in a supermarket car park.

The woman in her 90s was struck by a green hatchback-style car as it reversed at Tesco in Station Road, Addlestone on Wednesday.

Surrey Police said the driver, aged in his late 70s, initially got out of his vehicle but "quickly returned to the wheel" and drove off.

The victim was taken to St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, for treatment.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident which took place at about 10:40 BST, to contact them
